Frequently Asked Questions
Should I get braces? I’m a teenager with gaps between my teeth.
If all your adult teeth are in and there are still gaps in between your teeth, you may need to get braces. Your orthodontist will be the best one to evaluate your teeth and decide on what course of action to take. If you still have baby teeth, the gaps might disappear once your adult teeth come in.
How do I keep from gagging when the dentist puts things in my mouth?
Breathe in deeply from your nose and focus on an activity you can do while in the chair, such as pointing your toes. Doing these two things should distract you. You can also try to relax and keep in mind that you are in good hands.
My wisdom tooth started hurting. Should I get it removed?
You either have an infection in the tooth or in the gums around your teeth. You will probably need a wisdom tooth extraction. For more information, please contact your Irvine dentist.
Why are my teeth more yellow now than when I was young?
Adults’ teeth are generally more yellow than children’s teeth because adult teeth are thicker and have more dentin, which is calcified tissue and is one of the main components of teeth. It is also yellowish in hue.
How long does it usually take to get a partial denture?
A partial denture usually takes about three visits to be completely installed. The first two visits will be about a week apart, and then the third will be just a few days later. The denture can last you 10 or 20 years or even longer. A temporary denture can be made in one day, but will need to be replaced much sooner.
